International Mental Arithmetic Tournament

What is it - Mental Arithmetic?

Mental Arithmetic — is a technique of intellectual development of children aged from 4 to 12 years. Working with the counting frame (Soroban) children learn to count in their mind: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing any number with a speed of calculator.

What is the purpose of the Mental Arithmetic Tournament?

  • In order every pupil in the Children's intellectual development center "Pifagorka" showed the best of what he or she is capable of.

  • In order to master their skills of counting using the counting frame.

How to take part in the Mental Arithmetic Tournament?

  • To study in the Children's intellectual development center "Pifagorka" in your city or be trained by our method of training.

  • To do properly all tasks in the classroom and at home.

  • To tell your teacher about your intention to participate in this tournament.

In 2017, we plan to invite pupils from other schools of mental to take part in the International Mental Arithmetic Tournament, so if you want to participate, please send your filled in application form to info@pifagorka.com.

How the winner will be selected?

When selecting the winner we will take into account the following:

  • Number of tasks made properly;

  • Speed of making the assignments.

How the International Mental Arithmetic Tournament will be organized and held

  • You come to the tournament 15 minutes before the start, register and get information about the group, in which you will work. Groups are formed by age and duration of training in the CIDC "Pifagorka". Thus, the tournament is open to all pupils, even if they are the beginners.

  • After short briefing, you will get a form with the assignments. Assignments are developed in the central office of the Children’s intellectual development center "Pifagorka" and are the same for everybody.

  • Perform the task during the certain period of time.

  • Tasks will be checked by the jury who will decide who would win the prizes.

All participants will get certificates of participation, the winners — diplomas and prizes.

Previous competitions were held in Cherepovets (Russia). We invite our partners from Russia and Kazakhstan and other countries to start training future champions of this international tournament!
